SJAMHA President 2021-22 Season Welcome Message

Welcome to St James Assiniboia Minor Hockey, home of the Canucks, Rockets, Titans & Canadians! Our SJAMHA board along with many volunteers look forward to another season fulfilling our mandate of providing children with opportunities to form and develop friendships and life skills through minor hockey. I am very proud to be part of an association that facilitates inclusive minor hockey programming on behalf of our catchment community clubs and provides every child with a fun, safe and positive playing environment.

The 2021/2022 hockey season begins with anticipation, excitement and of course some unique challenges. Along with the yearly changes of new teams, coaches and friends, we are still continuously monitoring and adjusting to the impact of Covid-19. We will continue to follow the guidance of Hockey Manitoba, Hockey Canada and provincial health authorities. Currently we are preparing like the season will roll out similarly as in years past however we remain committed to make adjustments and changes in an effort to avoid having to shut down. Thank you for your patience as our volunteer group works to accomplish this. As always, we will share updates as soon as they are released to us.

The sport of hockey can be enjoyed by all ages and skill levels, our goal is that our young players stay involved for life. A hockey season should not solely be judged on wins and losses. The smiling faces leaving the rink each day should measure our successes. The overall experience is what matters.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers in advance for their dedication to our youth. I cannot express the gratitude and appreciation I have for the thousands of hours our volunteers give to the children of SJAMHA. Please take a minute to consider being a U7 or U9 on-ice volunteer, or fill a team role such as coach, assistant coach, safety representative, team manager or communication officer for this coming season.

To our young players, good luck! Each time you arrive at the rink & step on the ice, you represent our association and I know your passion, your energy and your commitment to fair play will make our association proud that you wear our SJAMHA crest.

Have fun and good luck in the upcoming season.
