Please see new directives and information from Hockey Winnipeg (HW), one of the governing bodies overseeing SJAMHA.

Tournaments

No Hockey Winnipeg team will be allowed tournament play for the remainder of the 2021-2022 season until that team is eliminated from playoff contention.

This rule was already in effect for exhibition games and is now in effect for tournament games. This applies to all tournaments in Manitoba and any other Hockey Canada branches and USA Hockey jurisdictions. This rule is being put in place to further protect the Hockey Winnipeg 2021-2022 Regular Season and Playoffs, as those are the main priority of the Association.

Tournament Fees

Hockey Winnipeg will establish an online application form that can be filled out by any team that did not receive a full refund of Tournament Entry Fees as a result of the ruling against tournament play. Submissions will be reviewed by the Executive Director and Vice-President, Operations.

Paying of Officials

If there are officials (Time-Keeper and Referees) assigned to a game that gets cancelled due to covid, those officials shall be paid.

Ice from Cancelled Games

If a game is cancelled due to covid, the “non-cancelling team” shall have the opportunity to use that ice slot for practice. If the non-cancelling team declines the slot it can then be re-purposed at the discretion of the Area Association.

All-Star Games

The Hockey Winnipeg All Star Games (AAA, AA Male, AA Female, Ron Stamm, Dianne Woods, Lindsay Tait) will not be played this year. This decision has been made to further protect the Hockey Winnipeg 2021-2022 Regular Season and Playoffs, as those are the main priority of the Association.

Hockey Winnipeg will be naming the All-Star Teams and showcasing them through the mainstream media and social media. We will be presenting the players named to the teams with a customized All-Star Jersey before the end of the regular season.

Alcohol/Illegal Substances

Hockey Winnipeg has become aware of certain individuals bringing and/or consuming alcohol at Hockey Winnipeg sanctioned facilities/events. The possession and consumption of alcohol or any other illegal substances at Hockey Winnipeg practices and games is strictly prohibited. Any participants, including players, coaches, officials, volunteers or fans who are found in possession and/or consuming alcohol or any other illegal substances at a Hockey Winnipeg event will be suspended indefinitely, on top of any penalties that may be assessed. This is a zero-tolerance policy.
