Name Bars: Teams can choose to use Hockey Hut for their name bars. if you choose to do so your team will be billed for this process (sewing only 10$ per jersey and name bars and sewing 12$ per jersey) by SJAMHA. SJAMHA will be invoiced for all the teams that take advantage of this process, and the fee will be passed along to your team. You will need to include this in your team fees when making budgets. For removal teams will need to have a trusted parent carefully remove the name bars at the end of the season.

Please let Erin Stanley know if you have any questions (equipment@sjamha.com)
Some teams are using other companies. That is fine. You will include this purchase in your teams' fees as well.

FAQ

Q: What documents, courses and checks are required?

1. Player/Coach/Parent (just one legal parent/guardian) Code of Conduct are required each year.

2. The medical sheets are required as the Safety person NEEDS to have them at every game and practice in case an incident should arise.

3. CHILD ABUSE REGISTRY CHECK: All Registered/Rostered Bench Staff: The form will be provided by Sabrina (SJAMHA Admin), the form is to be filled out and returned to Sabrina. (* When printing the form, the form MUST be complete, including the first page. Please make sure you adjust your settings when printing, so you can see the entire page with nothing cut off (otherwise the whole application will be rejected)). If you do not use the provided SJAMHA form, the cost will not be covered. Without the registry check, you/they will be unable to participate until these have been submitted. Note: these forms are very particular about the information they require, so it is of utmost importance to fill these out meticulously. If the individual provides a copy of a Child Abuse Registry Check to us that they have completed within the last year, this would also be acceptable. CAR Forms can be submitted in person at the Coaches meeting on Monday October 26th.

4. CRIMINAL (Vulnerable) RECORD CHECKS (New this year):

5. Coaching Certifications: Hockey Manitoba website has all the coaching requirements for each level. In addition to your appropriate course, each coach is required to complete a (RIS) Respect in Sport Activity Leaders certification (online). Failure to have the appropriate certification in place prior to December 1st, 2026 will result in your removal from the roster for the remainder of the season. It is imperative that you check to see what certifications are required for the age level you are coaching and whether or not any certifications have expired. Head Coaches must ensure that this message is shared with all bench staff. Any questions related to coaching certifications should be directed to Mike Demidiuk, SJAMHA VP House League/Coaching Certifications Rep (houseleague@sjamha.com) Training & Clinics on the Hockey Manitoba website helps you register for the courses needed. https://www.hockeymanitoba.ca/coaches/requirements/

6. Safety Person: Medical Forms must be filled and brought to every game and practice in case a medical incident should arise. - They must also have their course up to date.

Q: What are the consequences if all documents, courses and checks are not completed?
A: Failure to have all documents, courses and checks in on or before December 1st will result in removal from the bench. The association takes a strong stance on ensuring we, as an organization, are doing our due diligence in this regard. On top of the legal requirements, the ethical requirements seem very apparent.

Q: Does your team need a Safety person, and Manager?
A: Yes! Safety person is very important. Their role is to make sure each player has a filled out medical form. This form is to be at every game and practice. Prepare the teams' Emergency Action Plan and activate the plan in case of player injury. This role must have an up-to-date Hockey Canada HU Online Safety course Due Dec. 1st, 2026. Safety Person/Manager, Other Bench Staff – St. James Assiniboia Minor Hockey Team Manager, the role is to help organize the off- ice matters for the team. The main responsibility is to open a team Bank account. The letter of authorization from SJAMHA can be acquired by emailing admin@sjamha.com More info can be found at Managers – St. James Assiniboia Minor Hockey

Q: What is a TeamLinkt owner? No longer TeamSnap*
A – This is usually to the Head Coach and has control of the team’s page. Only the team owner or someone provided with manager access by the team owner can post events such as games/practices. *SJAMHA Admin creates the HC owner but once the manager and assistants are confirmed, the HC makes them owners. Please be patient while work to upload this information for each team.
