SJAMHA Statement on Fees and 2020-21 Season Refunds
With new developments with each health order over the past several months, the SJAMHA board has had to make quick decisions about how to prolong our hockey season.
2020-21 Season Refunds
As indicated in the Feb. 4 website update from President Scott Lockhart after Hockey Winnipeg decided to cancel the regular hockey season: Hockey Winnipeg and SJAMHA will be working to provide fair refunds to our members over the next few months of the registration fees paid in August 2020. The refunds will be prorated based upon the amount of programming that had been provided for a particular age group. Some fees are not recoverable (such as U9-U18 tryout fees, U7 Initiation and U9 Development Program fees, player insurance and TeamSnap). The SJAMHA Board hopes to distribute refunds to members by the end date of a typical hockey season which is April 30th, 2021. As of March 15, Hockey Manitoba and Hockey Canada have indicated that they will be refunding associations some SJAMHA money that was submitted to them on behalf of our association, but we don’t know how much or when. Once that takes place, we will send out refunds to SJAMHA members.
Surplus Fees
Since the Hockey Winnipeg sanctioned season was cancelled, all hockey associations have been operating in different ways, some choosing to cancel all programming, and others, like the SJAMHA, offering programming to all members. Some SJAMHA teams chose to proceed, and others did not, so all outdoor and indoor SJAMHA hockey programming since February 4 has operated strictly with the use of team fees.
SJAMHA Spring Programming
To make up for lost hockey time from this winter, the SJAMHA has decided to keep Allard arena open until mid-May this year and offer spring programming to those players who choose to register. These programs will come at an additional cost. Spring Break Camps sold out very quickly after the registration form was emailed out on March 14. More information and a registration form for programming for the months of April and May will be shared shortly.
Thanks for your continued patience and support of SJAMHA during this challenging year as we work towards providing quality and affordable hockey programming for our members. Please continue to check our website, social media and email correspondence regularly for updates.
